QLD Economy in News Today - Sunshine State beats NSW as sickest
QUEENSLAND has replaced the usual suspect of NSW as the nation’s sickest state and threatens to drag Australia into a prolonged recession. Queensland has by far the worst budget position of all the states, and its citizens face the sharpest fall in living standards as unemployment is forecast to almost double in the next two years, from 4.25per cent to 7.25 per cent.
Unemployment rates are difficult to believe in Oz, very understated due to underemployment and definition changed some years ago i.e. two hours work last week? Means you are employed.....

The International Labour Organisation (ILO) standard says it should be 1 hour. Both the Australian and the British statistics use this same 1 hour ILO criteria.
The ILO definition is used internationally, so comparisons between countries can be made, and it also allows for consistent comparisons over time. http://www.statistics.gov.uk/CCI/nugget.asp?ID=165
In general, anybody who carries out at least one hour’s paid work in a week, or who is temporarily away from a job (e.g. on holiday) is in employment. http://www.statistics.gov.uk/downloa...employment.pdf
The ABS definition of employed is: Persons aged 15 years and over who, during the reference week, worked for one hour or more for pay, profit, commission or payment in kind.
The ABS definition of unemployed is: Persons aged 15 years and over who were not employed during the reference week.

What do you expect with Mike Kaiser, the Qld Cheif of Staff (senior political advisor) being the same twit that was the Chief of Staff to Morris Immema. Apparently he's (Kaiser) copped the blame for the NSW debacle.

You are presumably talking about the UK and Australia, and Europe then, as they all use the same calculation.
Haven't you heard; Unemployment is rising... It is in all the newspapers...
