Re: Qld/Brisbane govt jobs
Sean,
brisbane.qld.gov.au
is the home page of the Brisbane City Council, and it has a link there
straight to employment within the council, and also vacancies online.
That should answer all your questions

Working for the public service: fair money, very fair hours, good super, a
tendancy to keep you on contract rather than put you on permanently, and
good benefits. The bad side? You become lazy, the work load is boringly
light, no expectation to perform quickly, witness large quantities of money
being wasted... entirely frustrating unless you have a good sense of humour.

I am not sure but I heard you had to be a Australian Citizen to work for the Government, or is that just Public Service jobs? no doubt somebody here will know the answer.

well, a safe guess would be 4 weeks annual leave, and a 37-38hr week,
probably flexi-hours, depending on type of work/department etc.
That's about the standard minimum working conditions.

Re: Qld/Brisbane govt jobs
Federal government jobs usually require citizenship.
I'm not aware of any state or local government jobs that require
citizenship - in most cases permanent residence should do fine. But
as there are 8 different jurisdictions in Australia, you shouldn't
assume this - best way is to visit the state govt website, get to the
job details and see if there are restrictive rules on citizenship vs
PR.

Yes I have. I was born in Brisbane and am up here again, but I have spent
most of my life on the Gold Coast.
