Been on the radio news every hour today, must be a slow news day. Poor old Peter belly aching that he's going to have to spend a few mil upgrading the health service after the damming Dr Death enquiry. Looks like the new migrants to Qld are going to have to pay an arrivals tax. Lol that could put a serious dent in any equity new folks are bringing in.
I'm going to write to him and suggest they make tiling all your floors mandatory in exchange for my vote now we're on our way to being citizens Easily bought that Beattie bloke

Re: Qeensland attracts the most interstate immigrants
I've just found this within the Australian Statistics info - 2001 [cheers cresta ]
Start Quote:
However, Queensland's structural ageing is not as pronounced as most other states or territories. At the time of the 1971 census, Queensland had the highest proportion aged 65 years and over, with 8.7%. Over the 30 years to 2001, while the proportion of people aged 65 years and over in Australia increased by 4.3 percentage points, Queensland's proportion of older persons increased by only 3 percentage points to 11.7%, and now ranks fifth behind South Australia (14.7%), Tasmania (13.9%), New South Wales (13.1%) and Victoria (13.1%).
End Quote:
I presume these are the latest stats?
They state the opposite to what you are saying unless you guys have more up to date info

And picking up on Bondi's point, if there are more oldies coming here, then surely the "grey" sector pump money in, yet take nothing out? ....therefore more jobs for us young uns and effectively more money supporting the Qld economy? Unless of course the welfare system for the grey sector is astronomical
And I agree, tilling is incontinence friendly so it should be everywhere in Qld

Like Cresta says, I reckon it's Beattie bleeting the poor tale in preparation for paying off his legal fees for the Dr Death cock-ups
Unless anyone knows otherwise, Qld actually has one of the lowest levels of aged population.....in fact looking at the above, Sydney where you live Bondi is higher

ways to get revenue up
arrival tax is good,
increase the tax on canoes. jet skis and wind surfers
remove negative gearing on property
tax cyclists and make them pay insurance for using roads
tax dog owners emmensly
tax cat owners
tax people who drive big 4x4's and have no real need for them
remove any benefitrs for lazy arseholes who dont work
stop giving cash benefits and replace with vouchers
tax anyone who likes Aussie Fagot League
remove the breeding bonus cash handout
reduce taxes for lesbians who are hot
