Qantas Club - Worth it?

Aw, ok. Well I am sure I will survive whatever but there are so few Concorde lounges I was looking forward to it. We are not going until September.

You'll have to slum it in the First Class lounge in T3 then. Frankly, they are all the same anyway - just somewhere to get a bit of quiet after being frisked by a guy who is the spitting image of Mohammed Atta...............

(I am in first class on FF points only of course, I was thinking someone would notice this and bar me anyway

Question for the seasoned QFF members.
We have been saving our QFF points for about 3 years now and have about 260,000 QFF points accumulated. It was my understanding that when redeeming points you still had to pay taxes, which for Qantas are quite high, I believe.
Anyway, my question is, do taxes change throughout the seasons? IE: are taxes during Xmas any higher than they would be right now for instance?
The reason I ask, is because I just went onto the QFF site and looked at some flights. During October, for two adults, it came to $4700 inc taxes, if I opt to do points plus pay, 300k points + $1600 gets me those two tickets. But if I look at flights over Xmas ($5,746), 300k points means I then have to pay $3000. This suggests to me one of two things, either taxes are more expensive during Xmas, or Qantas devalue their points over that period?
Any thoughts from the seasoned bunch on here?

There are 2 different ways to redeem. One, you look for a classic redemption and if you find it, regardless of the time of the year it will cost you 128k points + taxes + fuel fines. It sounds like you are looking at any seat options where you effectively pay part of the revenue fare with your points...with a maximum number of points you can contribute. So as Xmas flights are much more expensive the cash component is much higher.
The website won't tell you but sometimes an anyseat award can work out at exactly the same cost in miles + total cash as a classic award...but with the ASA you earn miles and status credits. Booking redepmtions on QFF is an absolute nightmare, awful website full of bugs and gotchas.
