Blimey that's a good rate. How many of those seats will go to people that give a toss about the ashes though? I'm betting not many.

Thanks for that information, Ive just booked my friend a flight out from the website for 215 inc taxes and its not even the 21st yet. Think they made a cock up as the site is down for maintenance now but got the flight anyway.

These offers are always London-Sydney-London. Surely if its an ashes offer it should be the other way round so that the aussies can come over and watch a test??????? Its still gonna be $2600 for Syd-Lon-Syd

Well as i'm after a one way home if I can get this offer it will still work out way cheaper to get a return Lon-Syd and not use the 1st leg. I do think the aussies are starting to get sick of Qantas and if they find out about this deal being offered to the UK and not them it will do them more halm than good over here.

They most likely wouldn't let you do that, I looked into it with the £500 fares earlier in the year. Thought I'd just buy two UK returns (starting from aus) and then use the leftover leg to start each future journey so I could pay UK prices. A ticket that starts in london has to start in london, or it did when I looked into it.

Looks like the site was down for rebranding as it's all change today.

As for the flights you booked - hopefully they'll honour your booking but don't count your chickens if they haven't been ticketed yet.

You can't no-show for the first leg of an itinerary, only the last one.

If you no-show for the LHR-SYD leg the airline will cancel the SYD-LHR OR make you pay the difference for the applicable one-way fare from SYD - LHR.

Keep an eye on Ethiad. I spotted a cheap fare on expedia with them, contacted Flight Centre to see if they could do better, and they came in just lower, so got return flights to Dublin for Christmas for $2300, which I thought was pretty damn good..
