I believe the only busy place to go is Northbridge ? am i right ?
if there`s a big game on ( like SKY or FOXTEL , whatever it is )
Do a load of lads go to the boozer and watch the match ? or is just one of the things i have to accept is not going to happen???

Big game? Is this soccer or footie? You won't see many people packed into a pub in Northbridge to watch a soccer match!

Freo is busy, Cottesloe is busy, Subi is busy, Leederville is busy, plenty of hotspots if you want a night out, depends what kind of night you want really, but I don't think you'll find the english style pubs in these areas!

If you want english and soccer then I know there's some in the northern suburbs such as the Old Bailey in Joondalup and the Moon & Sixpence (somewhere round that area), oh and the awful stamford arms in Scarborough!

i`m not saying , that I want english style pubs . I`m just asking about the atmosphere and do many people go and watch the matches in the pubs like they do in england. I will miss that , as i`ll miss going to watch Liverpool but i`m sure i can try and become a Perth Glory ` fan ( IN TIME)
might even get a game for them......

One of the best atmospheres was in The Old Bailey Joondalup when we stuffed the scouse 2-1 in the cup, the year we did the Treble.

I have never seen a pub empty so quick at the final whistle.

Well the scouse half of the pub.

I think slowly but surely a lot of people are getting pay tv so the pub crowd is dropping a bit for some of the games.

Soccer isn't very big over here. I'm sure there must be some pubs that have a bit of an atmosphere, but matches wouldn't start till about 23:00, can't imagine too many people going out at that time to watch a game or places staying open for them. But I may be wrong?

I'm not a real soccer fan, so haven't any interest in seeking them out. There are some people on this forum who are into watching the big matches, they may know where the best places are to go.

Think you might have to accept you'll be at home with a six-pack and special-effects CD of crowd cheering!

Dont forget you have the 12.30 kick offs in the UK, so here in the West we get them at 7.30/8.30pm.

Shows how much I'm behind the times! Did they do that so that expats in Oz can now watch?

soccer is getting pretty big here now, our friends are scottish and i know saturday there was a big crowd of celtic fans in northbridge watching the game. As already mentioned the old bailey in joondalup and the moon & sixpence in woodvale show all the british games as they make a fortune in beer money.

If you are a fan you will find plenty of places. Also a lot of people have foxtel and have some very late night sessions watching the live games!

Good luck

Lynn

There is a brit based pub somewhere close to Murray street in the city. Not the moon and sixpence, the pub i'm talking about is further down the road. My friend went there to watch the rugby a few months ago, so it would probably screen other sport events there as well. I'll ask my mate what the name of it is.

Soccer isn't very popular here, so you might have problems trying to find a pub that shows soccer games. There might be one in Northbridge though.

The Rosemount and the Hyde Park Hotel are both quite good pubs, especially if you're into watching local bands. No idea if they show sports games though.

Loads of pubs show the soccer!!!

If they have Fox TV you can be certain soccer will be on.

You may have been talking about BobbyMcGees on Murray St.

The Elephant & Wheel Barrow is another.

Plenty of screens throughout Burswood Casino any time of the day.

Just had a re think, isn't it Bobby Dazzlers.

Oh crap, now you have me confused I'm pretty certain my mate wasn't referring to Bobby Dazzlers, as I remember when I took him there (shite pub btw) he mentioned that he had never been there before. He also gestured that the pub was further alomg Murray St as well.

I am confused!! I will have to get off my arse and ring him them.

Maybe it just sounds similar to BMcG?

Across the road from The Elephant & Wheelbarrow in Northbridge is the Mustang Bar.

I think the South African supporters took over that one for the world cup.
