Government staffer says new-age warriors waging culture wars in class
By Linda Doherty, Education Editor
May 3, 2004

Schools have been hijacked by "new-age class warrior" teachers more committed to promoting homosexuality, multiculturalism and Aborigines than teaching the three Rs, a Howard Government staffer claims in a new book.

Kevin Donnelly, chief-of-staff to the Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations, Kevin Andrews, says public education is in crisis because political correctness, state-sponsored education fads and left-wing unions have skewed the teacher's role from objectivity to indoctrination.

The similiarities between oz and the UK can be striking. Elements in both countries seem to think that PC thinking will fail our children.

Agree. In some ways Australia is a more PC country than the UK, I think more of a nanny state as well.
