publc vs private school

We are thinking about activating our visas for Perth and wanted to know about the primary and secondary schools. Are the public schools of similar standard to those in Ireland? We have 4 children aged between 9 and 14 so sending them all to private schools would be very expensive. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Pick your area correctly and the state system is perfectly fine. Sometimes the High School option is considered dodgy but the Primary is perfectly OK. I can't comment on the comparisons with Ireland but I know my daughters Primary school is excellent but my catchment High School isn't so I have chosen private. Where might you all be working, what areas are you looking at?
