Can anyone give me an idea of where about any Psychiatric hosps are in and around the Brisbane area, preferebly south. Looking for employment in one! Can't fathom out much on the web when searching........thanks

There are a number of both public and private hospitals which offer psychiatric care... depends very much on what type of role you are after and if you want to work in a multi-disciplinary environment or for an organisation dedicated solely to psych care. For starts, try:

New Farm Clinic - a 72 bed private psychiatric hospital
Toowong Private Hospital - provide mental health services and treatment programmes including CBT
Princess Alexandra Hospital (often known as "the PA") - public hospital with large psych unit
Royal Brisbane Hospital - large public hospital
Kids in Mind - program run by the Mater hospital (nominally on the southside of brisvegas)
Qld Centre for Mental Health Research - at Wacol (south - west) ... Wacol as an area has a less than enviable reputation due to local prison location etcbut don't be put off - the work done at the psych units in the reagion is outstanding, particularly in adolescent care
The Park - research and treatment facility also at Wacol

I would also suggest looking at the Qld health website as they have loads of info... just do a search for psychiatric! They also have a dedicated mental health section on the site with links to government-funded organisations in that field.

A search on "psychiatric brisbane" or "mental health brisbane" will also bring up lots of community based organisations who might be of use to you in your search.
