British Expats - private dental cover

I have private health insurance and the amount they pay is a bit mean, my dentist agrees, but it's better than nothing. However, I joined Noble Dentist and must say the cost of the reduced fees from Noble compared to the full fee, then my private insurance on top has allowed me to afford quite major dental work in the last few months. The savings have been incredibly significant, as in a couple of thousand dollars spent out of my pocket instead of around three plus. I would rather have that thousand for something else so to me the Noble membership is worth it. Yes, you are always going to be out of pocket somewhat with dental work because as JAJ says, insurance is for low risk high cost events - dental is going to be an ongoing and often a high risk event as well as always being high cost. It's true that people will let their teeth go more than they would if dentistry was more affordable, only trouble is when it gets to the stage that it has to be done due to pain etc, it's even more expensive. However, I don't have kids and the possible orthodontic treatments they may need so not really qualified to comment on that and I would think that a good interest savings account would be a good start with that possibility.
