Priority list and processing of applications for IT professionals
I submitted my application to DIMA in mid may 2002 and then later during the year heard the the ICT professionals were no longer on the Ministers priority list....
I have a job offer in sydney and also have been working in sydney from past 2 years......
Will the present changes effect the processing of my application?
Will it also take a year now to process?
I have front loaded all my papers including medical and all!!!
If some one has more info on it please do suggest
Regards

I presume you mean a General Skilled application, rather than an Employer Nominated
PR application?

Presumably you have a 457 visa or something similar? (otherwise you shouldn't be
working in Australia)

Yes they will, if you're applying under general skills.

Maybe a little less, but you should count on a year.

You were not supposed to do that (front end load medicals and police checks, unless
you're an overseas student graduating and applying for onshore skilled pr, you are
supposed to wait to be asked to do medicals and police checks), so be prepared to do
them again. You can't do much about it in the meantime, so just wait until Adelaide
start considering your application and then see what happens.
If you're working in Australia then having only a short time to make your initial
entry should not be much of a problem as it just requires a trip over to Auckland to
have your visa granted there.
