Primary Schools in Perth, WA
 

Hi All
We, a family of 6, will be moving to Perth in mid March this year. We have two girls that go to primary school in the UK and we are trying to find a good primary school in Perth to get them into. Does anyone have any info on oberthur primary school?? The wife has found this one and from the website it looks good, but you cant beat real feedback eh..

I will be working in CBD and hence we can live anywhere that is commutable from there and to be honest it is the school that will drive the area we live in...

Any help would be fantastic

I dont know this school, but my two boys (one in kindy and one in pre-primary) go to Davallia School in Duncraig. The boys absolutely love it there and the teachers are very kind and caring with the children.

my boy goes to hollywood primary in nedlands. its a state school but has a great reputation and he is really enjoying it. Its a stone throw from the CBD and also has no catchment area as the surroundings are hospitals . good luck with your decision

On one internet search recently, it might have been on this forum or another, I read positive comments about Oberthur PS. A mum at our school used to have her kids at Davallia before she moved, and she praised it as a good family-orientated primary. Many schools look good on paper, or the internet, or during an interview with the principal, but disappoint on closer acquaintance, so you're doing the right thing trying to find someone who actually goes there. Although it seems a long way off, the next 3-4 years will go in a flash, so it's important to consider high schools before deciding on where to live. You have more flexibility if you're renting, as just by renting in the catchment area, your kids can go to a good high school. Oberthur feeds into Rossmoyne, one of the best state high schools (but keep an eye on the exact boundary, including which side of the street you are on, and it is possible for the Education Dept to sometimes change boundaries):

Rossmoyne Senior High School Local Intake Area Definitions

The local-intake area for this school contains all or part of the local-intake areas of the following schools:

Bateman, Brentwood, Bull Creek, Oberthur, Riverton, Shelley and Willetton, and the traditional catchment area of Rossmoyne Primary School.

Ideally it would be good to choose an area that also has non-govt school options somewhere nearby. Somewhere between 30-40% of WA children go to a non-govt school (and there are reasons for that). A suburb also has to be able to offer the type of lifestyle you want - near the beach, river, shops you can walk to, or cafe society, etc.
