Interesting, I would have thought that food would show a bigger increase....and "household contents & services" too. (I'm assuming that category includes things like local rates bills).

Anecdotally my wife reckons the Coles bill has gone way up. My coffee went up 20C as well.
BTW ABC you can call up the ABS and ask for help in finding any of their stats. Don't get too excited.

Average price for coffee in Perth now must surely be at least $4.50

Coffee here at Southbank in Melbourne costs me $2 or $2.30 for a large. I realise this is cheaper than average, but I don't seem to have to pay more than $3 anywhere in Melbourne.
Insurance, however, does seem to have taken a hike this year.

These figures seem, more or less to coincide with friends guess/estimates.But with the effect of concealed taxes said they felt much worse off.
Strangely;despite the alleged inflation figures here in the UK prices seem stable[possibly falling--especially for fruit and veg etc].I wonder if we might suddenly be hit with a deflationary cycle.I know Galbraith said 'economic forecasting was invented to make astrology respectable' but I seriously wonder if we are in for a bout of that[deflation--not astrology!!!]views anyone???

Re: Prices have risen 3.1% in last 12 months
Last year it was $801.40, so up by 1.35%
My Rates notice came in last week, up by 7.3% this year.
Comparing to 2006 it is up by 28.4% (average 6.45% per year)
However, the Rates + Water rose by 46.1% (average 9.9% per year), so the water portion has risen much faster.
