Re: Price haggling
Someone mentioned this site on here this week:
http://www.appliancesonline.com.au
Check out the price of the item you want to buy on here and use it for haggling if you are shopping in store - worked for me!

Look out for the sales now, everyone wants to sell everything before the end of financial year, June 30

Definitely with electricals, got over a 1/3 off a washing machine.
Binoculars approx a 1/3 off as well and they were still more expensive than in the UK!!

Re: Price haggling
I paid for the washing machine with a debit card - no problems

If your employer / you can prove (how you do this I have no idea) that it's for 50% + business use then salary sacrifice is still a goer. That's kind of difficult if you already have a work laptop though!
Even with SS, you'd still want to haggle first to get the price as low as possible.
www.shopbot.com.au is good for comparing laptop prices.

Re: Price haggling
We haggle for most goods except my groceries. Kettles, toasters Fridges etc. Haggled $2500 off a car the other day. Getting better at it. Good to go armed with knowing what's on offer. It's the only time the junk mail comes in handy! Ask what's the best price that they can do it for. They'll never give you it (obviously) and the the haggling begins!
Cheers

Re: Price haggling
As for haggling, I hate doing it but always do - my line is usually "now what are you REALLY going to charge me for that?" works every time especially if I have a "Hmmm, Dodgy brothers down the street said they could do it for XXX but I really do prefer to buy from you" line to follow it up with. Must be because I am a poor little old lady and they take pity on me!

Re: Price haggling
Just been having a look and sale prices ???? can you still haggle those ?
How much can I reasonably try to haggle them down to without them laughing at what I suggest.
I dont like haggling either but I also don't like paying for things so the cheaper I can get something I might be mildly happier.
