Pre-School Child Care Northern Beaches Sydney

Hi all,

Was wondering if anyone has any experience regarding pre-school child care (for that matter any form of nursery/child care) for 4 year child in Northern Beaches area. Specifically Manly but info on other areas welcomed.

I'm wondering about a number of things:
1) Are there restrictions to entry based on VISA status?
2) Long waiting lists?
3) Some full of only 1-2 year olds and thus not suited for 4 year old.
4) Govt versus Commercial.
5) Last but not least price.

Thanks!

Long waiting lists and expensive. I pay $85 a day but have a 3 month baby. I think 1-4 yrs is charged at $80 a day. No restriction on type of visa as long as you stump up the fees. You won't get an gov support on a temp visa but if you earn in excess of $100k it is bugger all any way.

Not Manly, but this covers Warringah and might have some useful info in it - http://www.warringah.nsw.gov.au/serv...eApril2007.pdf

More specifically for Manly, the following might help - http://www.manly.nsw.gov.au/Childrens-Services.html

Cheers

About 10 years ago (!) we used a kindergarten named Punchinello (Tel: 02 9949 2521, Address: 118 Wanganella Street Balgowlah, NSW 2093. Balgowlah is ~2-3 miles from Manly and on bus route).

Can't remember the cost (but it was pretty average), it did have a waiting list and worked out well. We signed-up after a personal recommendation.

Another couple I'm aware of:

- Seaforth (don't know the address, but it's on the approach to The Spit. However, I would be a bit concerned about pollution levels there, because of the amount of traffic!!)

- Balgowlah Road. There is a nice-looking kindergarten there, next to the park/tennis courts/and near Manly "Boy Charlton" swimming pool. From what I recall, it's popular with parents.
