PR need insurance?

Hi Everyone

My husband and I both have PR but living in UK. We also have our medicare cards as we lived in Oz for a short while. We are holidaying in Oz from next Saturday for a total of 17 days and I was wondering whether we need to take out holiday insurance for the duration of our trip. Any help would be appreciated :)

You will be covered by medicare while in Australia but only for medical matters. If you want to be covered for things like luggage, flight cancellations, repatriation, etc., then you will need travel insurance.

There's reciprocal agreement between UK and Oz anyway for medical, so you would be Ok

Not if you took ill on the flight or in somewhere like Singapore.

Not worth the risk

I totally agree Grayling. I will be purchasing insurance. Peace of mind is essential. I'm a theatre nurse and fully appreciate how emergencies can happen any time, any place and anywhere. Thanks :)
