power tools

i presume as in this country there are plenty of cordless power tools for the building trade , but what voltage electrical tools do they use on building sites etc, is it the same as us 110v or are they less safe and use 240v

I'm pretty sure they use 240V as a fair few of the posters on here have had to sell their 110V stuff before they left Britain.

Depends upon where you want to go and live mate. Here in QLD I couldn't get my 110v tools tagged and tested, for ages I posted not to bother bringing them yet a guy down on the Gold Coast had no problems getting his tested. Even the people who made the rules gave conflicting info on the legalities of 110v tools so I just bought new 240 ones. To be honest I'm used to just carting the tools around now and not the tools + the transformer. Much easier on the old back.
All the tools sold here are 240v for site use and have to be connected to an RCD box. they also have to be tested and tagged every three months. NSW I think insist on monthly testing but don't quote me on it it's only what the other tradies have said.
