Default power supply

moving to australia in october, wanting to take electrical goods (kettel, veg. steamer, microwave, toaster, george forman). although i have just been told that they will not as powerfull as they are here in the UK. does anyone know if this is true???

Someone is pulling your leg Your kettle, veg steamer, etc etc will work fine in Oz and boil just as well as they do here.

There is a slight voltage difference. You will will need an adaptor when using appliances though to compensate for it plus the wall sockets are a different configuration. The other alternative is to have new cables fitted.

You don't need to sell the electrical stuff. Get some UK-Aus adapters to stick on the plugs and the stuff will be fine.

Just the opposite - being upside down in Oz actually helps the lumps of electricity to fall downwards towards the appliance, so things are even *more* powerful.

At least, that's what I think....

Maybe the person who advised you got it confused with the States, you can't use much of that sort of stuff here without a transformer. With a new plug most things will be fine in Oz.
