Default Power of attorney

Not sure if I am putting this message in the correct place but need some advise on power of attorney and selling my house.

I thought the system would be so simple but the skeletons keep crawling out of the cupboards.

Has anyone gone to Oz and their house been sold after they have gone?
Can you explain the system to me and the things that you did?
How do we get our money?

So many questions and the head is so fuzzy.

The lifestyle forum would be a better place for this question, most of the people already in Australia post in there and very rarely come in here

Hi

We are still waiting for our UK house sale to go through.

What you need to do is get a solicitor in the UK, the one dealing with the sale of your house is best. Ask them if they would be prepared for you to sign over Power of Attorney (this usually costs about £25) to them. If they agree then you just fill in a form and hand over the rights to them. Keep a UK bank account running and once the sale of the house goes through the solicitor can pay the funds into that account for you.

In any case, the estate agent you have appointed will liaise with your solicitor at each stage of the sale. Our agent is in constant touch with us and our solicitor.

Hope this helps.
