Possible move to Brisbane??

Hi again!

We may have the opportunity to relocate from Sydney to Brisbane as Andy's company is looking for people to work in their branch in Slacks Creek in Brisbane... I also would probably be able to transfer up there through my work..

My question is, does anyone know anything about Slacks Creek? What the area is like? Housing etc... is it safe?? All the old questions when someone is looking to relocate? I would need something near a train line too??

Look forward to your replies!!

Cheers

Sam

Slacks Creek used to be a first home owners area in the 70's which also has service industries mixed into it.

I wouldnt live there. Look to Daisy Hill or Shailer Park. Otherside of the highway and better areas. No train.

Not too far from me as I am in (Old) Tanah Merah.
Locality map can be found here: http://www.logan.qld.gov.au/NR/rdonl...0/LoganMap.pdf

Personally, the area we live in is fantastic - esp. for kids.
Woodridge gets the worst reputation.
Cornubia, Shailer Park, Daisy Hill, Springwood and Old Tanah Merah get my vote as the best areas around here.
Happy to show you around when you come up here.

Well done folks, thanks for the advice, exactly the kind of answers I was looking for. After living in Sydney for 2 and a half years, methinks its time to see the rest of Oz, As for the guided tour...I may just take you up on that offer...you may regret it LOL.

Re: Possible move to Brisbane??

Just because you will be be working in Slacks Creek, does not mean you have to live there. What sort of work would Sam be doing - and where?

You might find one of the suburbs nearer Brisbane would suit - especially the ones near the South East Freeway and busway. If you lived near Bris and worked in Slacks Creek your daily commute would be against the traffic.

Personally, I would avoid the northern suburbs - horrendous to get through town and the toll to come down the gateway motorway would soon add up.

There are plenty of people who live on the Gold Coast and commute into town, one of my colleagues reckons it takes her 1hr 15 door to door by car or train - mind you - she travels up at stupid o'clock. If you were only coming up as far as Slacks Creek, it would be less.

What are you looking for in a suburb? Older or newer houses? Good public transport? More spacious blocks? Good access to surf beaches? Good access to the city? etc. etc.

The more you tell us, the better we can help.

We used to live in Loganlea - next to Slacks Creek. I would rather live in Bracknell or Basingstoke than live there again.

Cheers,

DagBoy
