Can anyone tell me if it is possible to get a PO Box set up before we arrive ?

No, you need to go into the post office & supply ID to get a PO boxset up. There was a thread on here about 18 months ago abaout it & I called the PO to find out & that was the answer that I got.

Two options are to get your local PO in the UK to hold your mail & then redirect it once you have an address to give them in Aust, or to get someone else to set up the PO box over here for you - they dont care whos name its in, they just need to see ID of the person who sets it up.

Have a look at www.everythingaustralian.co.uk . they can supply you with a PO Box address before you arrive in Australia.

BTW, Aust Post are the ones who require ID etc, there are private companies (like the one above) that do PO boxes as well.

Definatley cheaper to find somone in Oz to open one for you at a Aus post office then.

That's right, you can't get an Australia Post PO box from the UK.
