Default Porting phone numbers?

I was wondering if it is possible to port your phone number like you can in the UK. I am wanting to get a pay as you go when I arrive, which is likely to be the number I will use to apply for jobs etc. Once I am more settled I would like to get a contract but I am hoping to keep my number. Is that possible?

Yup. I was able to port my PAYG number to my new contract with a different provider. Was much quicker than in the UK too

Just mention it to your new contract provider and they do it all for you.

Default Porting phone numbers?

As I mentioned on another thread avoid Vodafone like the plague.

Very poor network, even worse customer service and terrible billing problems.

It is a legislated requirement for the telcos to port mobile phone numbers.
