which port?
We are planning to send a container to sydney from Liverpool, keep the container in storage before we find a place to settle down in sydney.
Has anyone done this before? What are the approx storage charges?

Depends very much on the company you use to ship with - some of them include X weeks storage at either end in the price, or you can add it on to the price.
If you're not sure who to ship with, do a search on here, there have been loads of threads about this
