Re: Pools????
Costs mainly depend on whether it's heated and for how long. The chemicals are not exorbitantly expensive but you do need to spend a bit of time each week to keep it really crystal clear otherwise it gets nasty!
DO get a cover - it saves a lot on heating, makes it warmer earlier each day and cuts evaporation right down - in our case from 250 to 25 galls/day.

I'm not sure about the cost of the electricity, but the chemicals don't cost too much - maybe a maximum of $100 a year - less probably. We find ours pretty much looks after itself. It turned green in our first year here and I thought it was all my fault until we discovered the chlorine making cell thingy was broken!! Now it runs fine and doesn't ever turn green!!
We back wash every few weeks and if there has been a windy day we have to spend a bit of time fishing out leaves, but I reckon on average about 5 minute per week!!!!
Hope that helps

Re: Pools????
I think it depends on whether its a salt water or chlorine pool, ours is salt & as Rudi said its a matter of minutes/week in maintenance & the only thing we really do it put a bit of acid & a few bags of salt (less than $5 each at Bunnings) in it occasionally.
As for the heating, ours is solar heated & only costs a few cents/day to run.

We are currently renting in Eden hills, lovely spot over looking a reserve. We have just put an offer in to buy a house in craigburn farm, keeping everything crossed cos it is lovely. We are loving it here, settled in really quickly and been here only 2 months! Locals are really friendly, weather is changeable, loads of nice places to eat and drink, beaches are gorgeous, wildlife everywhere
