Pool Maintanance
What does everyone do?
Is it worth the cost of a pool man to do it, or should I just do it myself?
Any advice please?

A couple of guys I know pay for pool cleaners to come in, one of them spent just over $7K in a year :scared: they are new to Oz and have never looked after a pool before so really didnt know what was involved, they are going to find out now!

Re: Pool Maintanance
thanks for the replys.
I just had a bill for $253 for the last couple of months when he's only been every 4 weeks, so the summer bill would be a fortune I guess now we're actually swimming in it and it needs more work!
I think I'll tell him politely we can't afford it and buy a good book on pool maintanance instead!

find yourself a pool shop that will test your water for free.....they will then tell you what...if anything you need to add. The only thing that we have had to add to ours over the last 3 months is 300ml of acid and 2 bags of salt a total of $30 and we still have 4lt+ of acid left.
I use a manual cleaner...takes about 20 mins every week to clean it, every other week i get in and wipe down the sides....good excuse for a dook. The filter gets a wash every 3 weeks takes 10 mins.
I empty out the skimmer filter every couple of days...takes 5 mins
Easy....and cheap

there is a pool shop nearby that advertisers free testing, I'll pop down there with a sample.
By a manual cleaner, do you mean a thing that fits on the end of the creepy crawly hose that you brush all over the surface with? Or is that what they call a pool vacuum?
