Yes it does. But you can always ask the local fire dept to come and fill it for a fee. Of course thats where they get the water from too ultimately.

You then add salt to it and other chemicals to balance.

Dams are not too low here on the Sunshine Coast, no water restrictions at all :-))

If there are water restrictions in the area depending on which level....you are not allowed to fill new pools, then at the higher levels you are not allowed to fill them either.

That’s what I would have thought too. We’re on the Gold Coast (level 4 restrictions). Our pool was finished last Friday and was filled over the weekend. In fact it was the Pool Company who started the hose running.

Apparently, you can fill pools under level 4. Have just found this:

"You can fill up your new or repaired pool or spa for the first time using town water if building approval was granted (or repair work commenced) after 30 October 2006 At any time and only if three of the following four water efficient measures have been installed:
• Approved pool cover
• four-star efficiency rated washing machine (or better)
• approved dual flush toilets
• water efficient indoor fittings (showerheads, kitchen and bathroom taps)."

Thanks for that info! I was starting to think there is no point having a pool if I cant fill it!!
