Really don't know what to say. But, battering the agent would seem like a good idea!

Lucy, I am so sorry about what has happened to you. Have you thought about a temporary business visa?
Also, i know someone on the this forum who is studying to be a hairdresser at the tafe - maybe you could study something here? Would that be possible? You would have to ask JAJ
Good luck lucy.

So we are well and truly ****'d now. Who in their right minds is going to want to employ someone in the UK for something as simple as a leisure centre manager?
I am SO MAD with my agents as I feel they took us on under false pretences and gave us false hope. But they happily took £1800 of our savings (its all gone now) but the bastards stuck a clasue in our contract saying
''should it not be possible to lodge the application with DIMIA prior to 13/7/04 (haydns 30th) due to the short time frames that 1st contact have to work with'' they will noy honour the no visa, no fee claim.
Do you think I have a case to get my money back as technically they DID lodge the skill matching VISA application before July 13 and their clause is not specific to the actual SIR Visa?

Have you ever been truly heartbroken and wanted something SO badly, only to be shot down? I refuse to accept that this is the end...there has to be some way? WE MISSED THE DEADLINE BY THIRTEEN DAYS.

Lucy,
I'm completed gutted for you.
I can see what Jeremy was saying about false hope etc but if this is truly what you want to do then there will be a way for you. It may take longer to retrain in something else but you're young enough to be able to have that time. Just think what an impossible position you would be in now if you were in your early 40s.
I know we can all feel for you and give you any support you need but please don't give up without a fricken good fight. It is something worth fighting for.
Love to you both

I wanted to emigrate but I didn't have a skill ( I was a stay at home mum and a single parent to three children). I went to college for a year to do a Higher Access course and then I went to university to train to be a nurse. It's taken a long time but I have just been granted my visa so it has all been worth while.
Don't give up, keep on fighting for your dream and it will happen.
Best of luck.

Lucy,
I really feel for you and hope there is some sort of light at the end of this long tunnel.
You could contact your local technical college and ask about a 'fast track' hairdressing qualification ? I think there is a course which lasts about 9 months and you are a fully qualified hairdresser. Hairdresser is on the MODL and there is a huge demand for them here in Brisbane, you could also specialise as a Colourist which is a quick course and you don't need to cut hair, just colour it.
Whatever you do, good luck and I wish you all the best !

Hi Lucy,
I was really sorry to hear your sad news today. I don't think Dimia/agents realise that they are treading on peoples hopes and dreams. I know they have to separate the wheat from the chaff but there are ways and means of doing these things.
My heart goes out to you today...surely there are other ways into Oz? Perhaps you could retrain?
