In the UK that would be better, release the equity and spend the cash before the government get their hands on it in the form of inheritance tax. That's if they haven't already forced you to sell it to pay for your Social Services care package. Do they have such a thing down under (Inheritance Tax)?

Yep when we inherit from the UK if there's anything left the Aussie Gov will take a fair chunk.
