Dunno,
I'd say slightly more expensive here once you are bringing in the Aussie $$$ but it is dificult for me to judge as I took home a salary in the Uk and here I am running own business so I cant really judge it. little tip on the veges tho, yellow and orange capsicum are loads more expensive than green and red but quite often the check out person doesn't know that, so I put them in a bag together and get them all at the cheap price. Also Shallots are $16 a kilo and pickling onions are $1.?? a kilo so when the checkout person asks what they are just tell her they are pickling onions and get them realy cheap, same with potatoes when the new ones are out of season and are very expensive, just tell them they are the cheap one. Im gonna go for swings and roundabouts Kala |

Re: Poll. Now you're here....
For us we are earning more money here than in Uk, with the LAFHA and with me working (as I was a poor student back home) but I think its slightly more expensive here in Aus, although with me working and jc higher wage, we are not worse off just the same as we were back in UK.
We have only been here 2 months so not sure on some bills yet..... our rent here is more than our mortgage was back home (alot more). The petol is much cheeper here, but we used to get free petrol in Uk as Jc had company car and fuel. Our car insurance is absolute astronomical (x2 as UK) here beacuse JC is under 25 and they seem to penalise you for that here, even tho i have 7 years no claims and am 29, but next year this should go down. Car rego - same as MOT and rd tax Animal rego - didnt have this in UK, so more, but dog food is cheeper. However, Dog treats are not! Food - some things cheeper others not, so slightly cheeper than UK but not much Going out etc....we spend more here cos we are going out more at the moment, visiting places and eating out alot, we couldnt of afforded this in the UK tho. Think leccy and water is more here, but not sure yet as only had one leccy bill so far...... Broad band here more expensive and very bad service, absolute rip off arrghhh! Banks are a rip off too, just getting the hang of it now as joined a credit union as the commonweath were bleeding me dry! Beer cheeper, but drinking more....... Cant think of anything else, but yea about the same, but better lifestyle! laura xxxx |

Of course most contracts state "we reserve the right to change the offer" and in the Aussie captured market this means these monkeys can do what they want, how they want, when they want. And the consumer has to stick the cr*p service until the contract runs out  It's not unique to one company in Aus it seems  |

Re: Poll. Now you're here....
the bb is with Optus, its $39 per month (with 3 months free) and 500k modem, but you only get 400mb of download, i thout this would be fine as not downloading any music now, only using for emails and messenger and to look for jobs etc......anyway, after about 5 days its not workking right, slower than dial up, so i call them up (takes about an hour to get thro) and they tell me that I have used my download limit, i tell tham that i havent even downloded anything, and they tell me that even if you open a webpage it is a download, and once i have used my 400mb, then i run slower than a dial up connection!!!!!! I asked to change to one that doesnt have a download limit as i thout this was rediculas, but you cant do that as they all have download limits and when you have used them you run slow!!!
I wasnt gonna get a bigger download and pay more as it will still run out before the month is up and be running slower and costing me more money!! Anyway I am stitched in for 12 months, although i never signed anything??? I wish i had just gotton dial up now for $9.50 and had a slow connection all of the time, as I am paying $39 per month now and only having about a week high speed, then it all goes shit and you cant do much on the interent as it takes ages to show the page!!!! What can i do? has anyone else had this? laura xxx |

We will stick with it for a year then change, at least we get 3 months free and free connection etc. |
