I hope someone can help me..........I am coming over to Australia in November and one of the jobs I am applying for says that I need Police Clearance - is this the Police Certificate I can get from ACRO?

Yes, but depends of which police clearance they are talking about, Australian Federal or where you used to live.

Just read your OP properly. You've not arrived yet so won't need the AFP as they won't have any info on you at all, unless you've lived here before. You just need the ACPO one. Had you been here for 12 months and over, you'd also need the AFP one. Federal covers the whole country.

Illogical though it may sound though, they may still ask for an AFP check just so they can tick the box and say they did one

its a different PC, as when i arrived in Australia, my job needs Police Clearance, and I've to go to fill in the forms and do finger printing.. then only i got clearance..

You wouldn't have to do fingerprinting for a normal UK police check, which is what the OP is asking about, only if they were going for something like a security clearance.
