Im applying for a fiance visa for America and i need to do a police check and it says i have to get one from everywhere i lived since i turned 16. I was in Australia for a year backpacking im British and am now back in England. Does anyone know how i get a police check done for Australia? Do i need one from every state? Has anyone got a website or a phone number of how i can find this out please?

Also, I now live in London been here more than 6 months do i have to get a police check from London and the place i lived before up north

I would say that you don't need a police check from OZ as you never lived there - you were just passing through.

When you fill the UK police form in, you do it through wherever you are living now and then give all your previous addresses - these are run through a central computer and so does the whole thing in one hit - ie you don't need to go to ever police authority you have ever lived in.

http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/1101.pdf is the Aussie police check form. I spent a year in Oz on a working holiday visa and was asked for an Aussie police check.
