Hi Everyone,

Does anybody know much about the above? My Partner has 105 points (Qualified Librarian) and I have 3 Years in IT (+6 yrs in Offshore banking). Was half way through the ACS RPL but have been told that they are really after 4 Years so thought it might be easier to apply as my Partner being the main applicant.

If she has 105 points and I emphasise my IT skills on the Application would this increase our chances? Do the people with the most points in the pool get looked at first or is it first come first served basis. Is this something that coould take years and years as we are looking to go towards the end of this year.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.

Simon

Emphasising your IT skills is no good at all. If you get an ACS assessment and meet
the other basic requirements for migration, your partner could get an extra 5 points.
But then with an ACS assessment and the basic requirements met you could probably be
the main applicant yourself (and it would be sensible to be so).

Going into the pool is a long shot. Occasionally (the last time being 3 years ago)
the pass mark comes down a little (5 points maybe)0, and some others in the
Independent category get a visa through one of the regional schemes. But I would
guess that the vast majority of pooled applications go through the statutory 2 years
and then get refused.

Getting an ACS assessment would greatly increase your chances of getting into
Australia. If not, you might want to check out New Zealand as a possible alternative:
http://www.immigration.govt.nz

Also check the BCS entry requirements, if you can meet these for professional
membership you can then get an assessment from the ACS. However, only a minority find
the BCS route useful. http://www.bcs.org.uk

Thanks for that,

We are already looking into that as I think we definitely have enough points for that (26 I think). I also lived there for a year on a working visa about 4 years ago so it will be nice to go back.

Will keep you posted on how it goes.

Regards,

Simon
