Application assessment status
Im still confused as to when during the entire PR process does one know for sure that his application has been assessed and the individual has cleared the pass mark. Does the acknowledgement letter confirm this or the fact that DIMIA has requested the medicals and police clearance.
The reason I ask this is due the fact that the DIMIA rules have been changing quite often and what i know is that once your application is assessed the new rules wont apply for your application. Am I correct in assuming this?

No, the acknowledgement is just an acknowledgement. Don't try to read too much into the meaning of the word "acknowledgement" as it's nothing more than just that.

When your medicals and police checks are requested, it's generally safe to assume that you've cleared the points test. However, for those who jump the gun and front load their medicals and police certs, they won't know when they've crossed this checkpoint (unless their meds/police certs have expired and have to be re-done)

Generally yes. You only have to hold your breath each time a change in the regulations are announced (to see if the changes affect pending applications or otherwise) if your application hasn't yet been assessed.
