Default help please

I am hoping to sell my flat soon but have had a few leaks as its a shoddy bellway flat and yesterday had a leak in my kitchen which the bellway plumber said was thru the dishwasher.
In 20mins the kitchen was flooded along with the landing and next door cloakroom!!! he reckons its because i the dishwasher wasnt maintained and the food stuck in the pipe has caused this!!!!
It was flooded and i use a finish monthly cleaning liquid religously! Is he trying to pass the buck so that bellway do not have to pay for damages? I am getting a ariston engineer to have a look at my expense - by the time he comes it will be dried up and will he be able to tell what was to blame???
Are they taking me for a ride ..

.please help...upset and cant go to Oz without selling this silly flat !!!!!!!!!

Default flooding from dishwasher

It would be very unusual for food stuck in the dishwasher making it overflow.Flooding is usually from the inlet pipe/pipes poor conections or a blocked waste or the rubber waste from the dishwasher coming out of the waste pipe.Have the ariston engineer look at the waste pipe and see what he thinks about the installation. If the water was clean its proberly from the inlets if discoloured from the waste.Sorry manchester to far for a house call, and I,m out of work this week Dam. yafms other, half sorry if any poor spelling went to technical school.

I have had a similar problem with my dishwasher 3 years ago, the only way you can get flooded from a dishwasher is either a faulty water level switch, or a leaking drain (dishwasher outlet) pipe. It is not possible for food stuck in the pipe to cause a flood, as the water level switch would switch off the incoming water to prevent this.

Your household insurance "should" cover any damage caused by this flood, as did my insurance.

Phil.

Default Re: flooding from dishwasher

Thank you so much for your help Yafm and Phil,

Very Useful indeed as I have just been onto the phone to Bellway who said that their plumber said it was the food causing the flood. I have asked for an independent Plumbers report as if it the connection then bellway will have to cough up. I just need a report from a plumber to confirm if it is a connection! do u know any plumbers in Manchester ??
or what else can i do ...very releived that its not my food causing the flood!
