Plug Adaptors in Oz

Where can I buy plug adaptors - UK to Oz now that we have arrived? I haven't been able to dry or straighten my hair since I got here and I can't go for any interviews looking like I've just been dragged through a hedge backwards so any info greatly appreciated.

Hi Debs,
Hows it going ?? (other than not being able to straighten your hair!!)
when we were in Sydney there was a block which sold all sorts of bits and bobs which was just down the road from starbucks ... we bought an adapter there, do you not mean Oz to Uk ?? But we found a store right on the corner which sold all sorts of adapters .... really sorry I can't remember the name of it but Th starbucks was opposite Hyde Park then head towards the centre of the city and we found this street...... Hope that helps :D

Rather bizzarely you are not allowed to do this yourself, you are supposed to get a qualified electrician to do it for you, and pay them of course, however most people simply do it themselves, and to hell with the consequences ;)

Don't start that flamin argument up again for heaven's sake  That one rolled on for days and got very heated - unluck OP's straighteners :p You are allowed to change a plug. You are just not allowed to change the house wiring type stuff.

KMart, BigW, Woolies, Harvey Norman, Dick Smith all tend to do them. Still easier to do what other poster said and lop the end off - Buy yourself about 15 Aussie plugs from Bunnings and change the lot.

No worries! Just one of those harmless queries that set off a major argument last time. Some people don't have enough to do :D

Re: Plug Adaptors in Oz

I brough over a 4 way uk adaptor in my shipping and put an aussie plug on that. This works well for computer/tv/hi-fi stuff, but for kitchen equipment and hair dryers you're def better off cutting the uk plug off and buying an aussie replacement for $3 from Dick Smiths. They're easy to fit, and much cheaper than buying adapters!!

Hope you're enjoying Oz so far! ;)
