Question Plot Sizes in Perth Area

Hi All,
Looking at the various plot sizes available on the internet in and around the Perth area (new land developments), they seem to be averaging around 600m2 - 18m wide by 32m deep (ish).

Assuming that 6m must be left at the front garden area as part of the shire requirements & the house area must be at least 180m2 - being about 20m deep that leaves around 6m for a back garden. There would appear to be no useful room the sides of the plot either with the house being 16m wide.

Is a 6m back garden normal in Perth - it seems almost useless, or is it a waste of space due to the weather etc.

Are we thinking like the UK where a back garden is useful on sunny days.

Or

Should we be looking at larger plots - 1000m2, although they seem rare to find.

How are others finding this. ?????????????????

That sounds about average size. Most of the houses around here are on plots of about 600ish. It depends on how big a garden you want and what size house you build. Our land is 613 and we are building a 4x2. We have an alfresco area instead of a games groom as we spend more time out the back. We still have room for a pool but not very much else. It does get very hot and you will find you mostly sit in the shaded area, hence the alfresco

Hi Tracie,
Yes we did notice the possible swap of games room for alfresco area on quite a few of the project builders websites.

I see that you are based in Carramar. Carramar is an area we looked at the "Delmare Park stages"

I trust its a nice as it looks?

A pool sounds great.......

8k for a possible dry well - oh dear, perhaps grass is not so suitable in great amounts.

I like the thought of a pool though.

If 600/700 is a good size block, then it seems normal for a 6m or so back garden.

cheers

All the builders will let you change the games room for Alfresco and it doesn't cost any extra. We are renting in Carrramar but our land is across the road in Tapping, Aston Heights. We like the area obviously as we bought our land here
Delamere Park is at the top end of Carramar next to Banskia Grove, There is going to be a shopping centre opening there in the next few years and a couple of new schools.
There is a lot of building going on around here and lots of plots of land so I'm sure you'll get the right one for you when your here.

where the 6 m from the front taken from? The verge or where the property actually starts.

We live on a property under 700m2 and have huge house pool, pergola and still heaps room around. depends on the lay out.
