Default please help with this medical question...(st Johns m/c)

I have just booked our meds for St Johns St Manchester; I got an info sheet from them with a list of do's and don'ts, this Dr is asking for any hospital letters (referalls) from GP to hosp and follow up investigation results,(if any) also the kids innoculation records.

The other Dr's (Dr Tankel) also in M/c didn't ask for this or anything like this... does anyone out there know if I NEED to get this info, I don't really want to phone up my Dr to ask if its not necessary!! I also don't see why one Dr wouldn't ask for info and yet another does???

In case your wondering why we haven't used the Dr that didn't request the info; its because the xrays need to be done at another place an its 2 days off work instead of 1!!

many thanks and for your thoughts also!!

Hi,
At my medical I was asked for the kids innoculation records. Took along the little red book but had to phone up my gp receptionist to get one of the dates for my sons injection which they were happy to tell me over the phone

Hi there,

We used the doctors and St John Street and also had this letter.

I got all of the info requested from my doctors and it cost me £29.00

When we went for the meds, the receptionist said that we didn`t really need all of it and that it was only if you had been treated for serious illnesses/conditions. We left it with them though.

We went St Johns and didn't take any records with us. Dr asked for my notes and hubby's from over 10 years ago! Got them eventually but it took another 3 weeks or so.

My advice would be to go with too much not too little!

Hubby's GP charged him £12 for effectively 2 sheets of paper whilst mine charged nothing for about 20 pages!

Forgot to add. When I told the receptionist that I had brought what was requested on the letter, she said that I must have mis-read it.

I`d double check with a few more people on here first. If your GP is gonna charge you for things (like mine did), then there`s no point in getting it if you don`t need it.

Essentials are the kids immunisations.

also used Dr Million (which he must be by now after all these easy medicals they do)

anyway, got the same letter and thought oh - no chance can we get all that info. I had appendix out in Spain when i was 7 so not a chance for those documents. They didn't ask for any when we got there, even though i had to declare my surgery on the form.
Other half took latest cervical test results along which prompted him to say "well, seeing as someone's been looking about down there recently there's no need for me to then is there".
They didn't ask for any other bits of info. Guess it'll depend on how much you declare on your medical history though.

You're lucky, my friend has just been charged £75 for a print off the computer at the docs! It's not for a visa, but he was supposed to fill in a form for her instead he just printed off her records and then charged her £75!

You got off lightly. It's not the cost of the paper, ink, computer etc, its the time that's involved getting the info....taking the call from you, responding etc.

I am going to someone in Harley street as its nearest to me and he hasnt asked for that.

Although on the med form it does say about bringing specialist referral letters if you have a current condition being treated.

Im not under a specialist so cannot do this anyway.

Sorry to hijack the thread :
Can I ask, do you have to take children's records of MMR? It was my decision that the children did not have this back in the 90's as I work with Autistic children. What will happen? :scared: Can I still get in???

Thanks to everyone, I will phone the surgery tomorrow, its Dr Smith that we are booked in with, so presume it depends on who the med is with? Were seriously thinking of going with Dr Tankel now....he just does the necessary and thats that.
I have a couple of girly things (that I'd rather not mention on here :scared: that I don't really want digging up with Dr Smith (asking the reasons behind the opps etc..... especially in front of the kids!!!)

We are getting our meds done in scotland (bonnyrigg) and all we have to take is passport and photo, I asked if we needed to take anything else from GP, as hubby had op on his knee 18 months ago and she said no.
