Did anyone notice a surge in advts by Animals Australia in Victoria. Lot of murals around urging community to reject meats and eggs produced by mistreatment of animals. Wondering what has triggered it suddenly

nope, didn't notice any particular increase myself.
They are constantly trying to improve public awareness on the problem (and quite rightly so)

These links look very british based and therefore not necessarily relevant for Oz.

For example they talk about veal crating to produce the very white tender meat, that doesn't happen here, the veal that is sold everywhere is just a younger cow here in the same way that mutton is an older sheep
