plastering work please help
 

hi we are moving to oz at the end of the year,could some one help

is there more solid plastering work in western aus or the gold coast ?

there is no solid plastering at all like the uk plastering in oz.
solid plastering in oz is called rendering and is not the same as the uk.

i am a plasterer from the uk with 20 years experience,so as you know we do it all inside and out, but here its a lot different.

solid plasters do all the outside work with the rendering, it is layed on like paint, very thin mostly pre mixed stuff. not a lot of sand cement work and no dashing.

as for internal, you can not get any finishing plasters to go over plasterboard like board finnish or muti finnish in australia at all. its just tape and joint dry line work.

you can not get undercoat plaster here it plasterboard and thats it.


you can get sand and cement and they do a hard plaster to skim over this, but it is crap, its just like putty lime that i have used on national trust work, but no way near as good and thats was crap too.

if you are going to be working inside dry lining, find out and learn how to use plaster trowelling boxes ( if you don't already know)
