Does anyone know whats involves in applying for/getting planning permission in Perth, Kallaroo to be precise, we have just bought a house, and want to add a garage and an extra room. I have searched all the various government sites, but cant seem to find a definitive answer, and figured someones own experiences would be a good place to start. Any helpful websites would be much appreciated too.

If Perth is like most other states, all work over about $1000 will have to be done by a registered/lic contractor. Unless you go owner builder which will attract its own permits and cause restricitons on when you can on sell the property, and you would still have to have lic trades for elec/plum etc anyway.

Try:

Building Certifiers or they now cover much of the work which used to be approved by Councils.

Local Council may still cover this in Perth tho.

Building Services Authority of your state.

If you plan to go Owner builder, TAFE may offer some information on courses and links to Permits.
