Question Phone, internet and maybe TV..Which one to choose?

Secured our first rental property in Brisbane and hopefully in soon. Having a sore head trying to decide who you can get to supply you with phone and broadband internet connection and possibly cable tv.

The rental property appears to have been wired up with Telstra and has what looks like a cable tv point. Optus although seem to do good deals. There may be others that I just don't know about.

What I was wondering was who have you gone with and why. Any help or infor would be great...

Cheers

Ginny

As far as the phone goes, we went with telstra. There isn't a great deal between all the companies, with their deals going up and down. At the end of the day, the telephone cable coming into our home is owned by telstra, so whoever we go with, in the case of a line fault, telstra still have to come out to repair it. Bigpond is our ISP as we get a discount on the line rental. Also we have a 1.5mb connection speed and somehow only pay for the 512k.

Telstra home phone line, since we dont use it at all and just use mobiles as they are cheaper oddly for most calls using inclusive mins. Westnet internet - highly recommended by a lot of people on here and I think they are awesome.

As to TV we are not big on that and prefer the book thing or the computer. Basically its pretty much Foxtel or nothing unless you are not in a coverage area at need sat and then its Austar. Probably Foxtel tho.

Update - just noticed westnet can do your phone too and there is no connection charge for that or your broadband if you go with both with them. Nice!

Easy!

Thanks for the links and for all the info. With it being a rental I'm not sure about if we can go with anyone or for an easy life stick with Telstra. Although it's tempting with Westnet. Any comments about Optus?

Cheers

Hi Ginny,

Nothing wrong with Optus - I've just left them as they don't do tech support for Macs on Broadband, only dial up.

Have moved to AAPT - bundled for phone and broadband (they also do a mobile deal). We got a free modem, free connection and there is no contract. We use a phone card for overseas calls. So far so good - would recommend them.

We have Telstra at home for phone but use Optus in the rentals. Beware - the actual product (ie internet connection/phone) from Optus is fine, but the customer service & stupidity of the some of the things the company does has resulted in them being nicknamed "'Opeless" in our household :scared: .
