It depends a lot on what you do and / or how specialist your skills are.
If you are not in the medical or other highly specialised area, then most employers will want to meet you before committing to offering a role.
If an employer knows you have PR and are planning on moving out in the neear future then they might agree to some preliminary telephone interviews, but you probably would have to go over to meet them shortly thereafter for a face to face interview and you would also need to show that you are serious about making the permanent move and can do so without much delay.
This is pretty much my experience and my OHs. We spoke to recruitment agents about a month before we went over for a validation trip, had a couple of telephone interviews and had face to face interviews lined up for when we arrived.

It's definitely possible but improbable. Most recruitment agents I've dealt with will only respond to you if you are in the country and therefore able to attend interviews/start straight away.

If you find a job offer before moving to Australia then please inform me as well. I am also searching for employer sponsorship.

I am not sure, why an employer would hire somebody who is not in the country instead of a person who is availabe outside his office.
Those were the days when skilled people were in high demand and due to skill shortages employer had to import skilled workers from abroad. But situation has gone worst now.
If somebody is hiring candidates from abroad then he might be doing for some own benefits in the form of comission or cheap employees from poor countries. Rock On.

Seriously, I have to note that the Sydney job market is waaay more easy than the London job market at the moment (in our experience).
