Default Phone cards - best connection

I'm currently on the Daybreak card that is 3.5c/min.

Quality is excellent when we get through but there seems to be evenings when we can't access the Melbourne number to make the UK call.

What are you guys using? How much? Particularly, ease of connection?

I've just tried the TPG service at 1c/min and the quality was terrible.

Prefer a service without a connection charge.

Thanks

Hi,
I have used gst and also supersaver. Don't know if they have a connection charge but both seem to be about 1c/min and no problems with connections.

Thanks Pootle.

I've found a site that does a comparison of cards and they reckon 'Day&Night' is best value. Looks like GPS is close second.

http://www.telephonecards.com.au/Def...rd_country=226

Any more comments on GPS or Day&Night?

GPS $50 card lasts 6 months, 1.7c/min.
Day&Night 4 months, 1.5c/min

I assume you meant GPS and not GST

i am using tpg at the moment as we received some free minutes with our internet connection, and find it great, no problems at all. In fact when our free period ends i might stick with them.

According to MoneyManager http://moneymanager.smh.com.au/artic...261181959.html

One of the best cards on the market is the SuperBuzz card offered by Telstra
http://www.superbuzz.com.au/index.html

Super Buzz is a Registered Trade mark of Telstra Corporation Limited !!

I learnt something new today

I found the connection very muffly and a delay causing the echo effect. I guess they are using crap voice over IP as opposed to good VOIP that you hear using SKYPE. I've asked for my money back and still waiting to hear.

Are you getting good quality? Did I get a one-off bad connection?

I am concerned that they have not bothered to reply to my email after 3 days although I found getting through to customer service easy. They told me to email to stop service and get refund.

Hi Ebo

I use the normal phone and just put in my access code and pin number. Are you using the computer for yours?? I too use skype and think that is marvellous, but there again I am on broadband, it does not work well on dial up.

I found the quality using the phone the worst I have heard since arriving. This was my third card. I made one call and decided it was too much hard work having a conversation.
My comparison with SKYPE is when I use skype to skype on broadband the call quality is similar to normal phone quality as you know.
My TPG call reminded me of a mobile call in the old analog days when you went into a fringe area.
I've just purchased a GPS card.

Hi Ian
That is strange, cos mine is fine. One other possible is that when we bought our home phone there were loads with the aerial on them and my husband said they wouldn't be as good as a dect phone, so we have a dect phone and don't get interference of any kind. Other than that I have no idea why mine is okmand yours not.
