The Phone Call
 

My father in law passed away on Saturday, this is when it feels so far away from home.

Booked flights today, we leave tomorrow for a few weeks.

It's not easy to get that call.
I got a similar one last year - my father was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma and not given long. Unfortunately I wasnt able to fly back "home" because I had just become pregnant after many years of trying and was banned from flying for fear of losing the baby. A tough dilemma :(
I didnt fly, and suddenly the UK feels like "home" again and so far away.

Just to send you a message of support in these difficult times, so sorry for your family's loss.

It happens to us all oneday and you being here or there when it happens wouldn't have made any difference.
Don't ever feel that because you chose to live in Aus that you should ever feel guilty in anyway whatsoever.

I know exactly what you are going through as I have just been through it with my father passing away on Jan 4th it took us 3 weeks and a special dispensation from the Scottish executive for the funeral which was on Thursday last week. You have my deepest sympathies.

Thanks everyone for your support, in Singapore as we speak only another 14hrs to go!!
Were both ok, I have my coat ready for the airport!!
