Default PhD

Can someone comment on the points you get for a PhD from Australian in any field? You get points according to your nominated occupation on SOL or you get 60 popints irrespective of your field of study/occupation?
Thanks

You get points according to the nominated occupation on the SOL after a successful skills assessment from the relevant authority.

A PhD holder isn't gifted with 60 points on the basis of his/her PhD.

May I suggest that you take a look at the Skilled Migration Booklet 1119, which incidentally is downloadable free of charge from the DIMIA website http://www.immi.gov.au/
