I don't have any pets to ship fortunately but this post got me wondering. The dog's trust and RSPCA and other rehoming charities in Uk run fostering schemes. Maybe we could set up a fostering scheme by ex pats now in their own home, for ex pats in rentals. Just a thought.........

Yes it was a big worry for us at the time too. We brought 2 jack russels with us and managed to get a rental. When you are looking around make sure you tell the estate agents straight away what you are after and that you have pets. We are so glad our 'trouble russels' joined us as it helped with the settling process. They are thriving here and my only worry is the cane toads as we have spotted one or two in the garden. Our dogs love chasing the geckos around. They also love the sea.
Best of luck.

Sue what a fabulous idea - we're hoping to move over (visa permitting!) end Jan 07 and have at least 1 dog to bring over (not sure about the other dog!) and we're really worried about finding somewhere relatively quickly that will accept pets. Both are very well behaved!!!!! I'll be watching this post with great interest! x

We were fine with our dog. mam went on a realestate website and u type in what you looking for with keywords such as pets etc. Our only problem was that there wasnt many pets alllowed that had pools but we got over that. the dog was more important.

You can rent with pets, we have rented now for almost 18 months, just be prepared to accept an older house.

Although we know poms in brisbane who have rented 2 different new houses with a dog so new houses are not out of the question but older is easier.

We have had no problems renting with our dog, altho when we went to sign the lease she added that the dog was to be kept outside at all times
I dont think so!!!! He had always been an indoor dog and no chance were we going to start leaving him outside...so the agent got back in touch with the owner and they relented but we had to sign to say we would have the wooden floor re-polished if the dog scratched it at all, which was fair enuff.
So just make sure before signing anything that if they say pets allowed make sure its inside and out!

By the way no regrets bringing him at all, even if they do end up the most expensive pets ever! :scared:

Just a note guys snake season has come early to Perth, so watch out for your pooches and pussy cats out loose as by the time you figure it out they are usually almost dead.

Already had 2 in the last week in work so be careful!

we're in a brand new rental and the landlord has agreed to us getting a dog. We had to sign to agree that we'd keep it outside and repair any damage or have repair funds deducted from our bond accordingly. Our renting next door neighbours also moved in with a dog in tow so don't despair of finding dog friendly rental
