Default Petrie - Any Advice??

Hi All,

We're just coming to the end of the visa process and are now looking at where we'd like to settle when we come over next year. We've got some friends in North Lakes, but don't think we'd get as much for our money there as we'd get buying in an older suburb - hence us looking at Petrie and the surrounding areas.

Has anyone on BE settled around there? Or know of someone who has? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Jaime x

Hi

We rented this house in Petrie during our reccie trip, and found Petrie a really nice quite area with some nice walking areas around the lakes, the house (Rimu) would be a good place to stay while you get sorted as you can book it for short stays as required.

11 Hunter Circuit Petrie QLD 4500

It's ok, just another suburb really (although i would pick it over North Lakes).

It's has a very good rail link as all the express trains stop there.

I live near Petrie (Cashmere, same place as Merlin), as OP has said, its nice and quiet, has a few shops but is close to Strathpine where you can get most things and there is also a small Westfield (shopping mall). Some of the houses have lovely views there and there is North Pine Country Park and various picnic areas, parks and play areas around the dam which are good for kids.

We have friends from wigan who live on North Lakes, We live at Mango Hill which is great, the only down side is no rail lines . I also have a mate who lives at Petrie he loves it there as access to the city means alot if you venture out, because taxis are unreliable. Dale

Thanks for all the replies, it sounds good as we have two kids (boy 7, girl 4) and we want somewhere they can settle easily, with lots of open space.

We also have friends from Wigan in Northlakes - Ian & Lisa Hanna they've been there a year now and are loving it, but its too pricey for us we think!
