Pet Insurance - to cover vets fees
Hi All,
Here in the UK I pay for pet insurance for our cats in case they need vet treatment - is there anything similar in Australia? I'm not talking about travel insurance - but to cover them after they arrive.
If so does anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks

Here's a few, but I think there is another one when linked with one of the normal household Insurers, just can't recall the advert now.

Thanks for these.
Anyone else got any suggestions or use any of the above themselves?
They seem a bit more expensive per month for less than the cover in the UK (we use Petplan - have unlimited cover for 2 pedigree cats at about £24 per month total).
I guess that insuring your pet is not as common in Australia - does that mean that vets fees are cheaper??

we use the vets own insurance....$32 per month for the lifelong Accident and Illness cover. The max annual claim p.a is $9k.
$29 per month for an additional pet ( cat or dog).

We also had pet insurance in the UK. After arriving in OZ and looking into what was available pet insurance wise we have decided not to have it. The policies are generally expensive - mostly paying out only 80% of the claim and lifelong insurance does not seem to be available. As with many things here in Australia (supermarkets spring to mind) I have found the lack of competition to end up costing me in the pocket!

In the UK i had my pets insured through the NFU but didn't bother in OZ because it was so expensive and it didn't cover anything near the UK insurance. Vets bills are certainly no cheaper either especially if you dont have your dog/cats tested for Rabies 'before' you leave for OZ and decide to come back to the UK.!!!
The whole concept of pet insurance in OZ is new compared to the UK so it's bound to be more expensive, give it 20 years and it will come down in price.
