Default PERTH-where are/do you headed/live?

Going to Perth, hopefully Jan/Feb time 2003.
For all the folk that live there - Which suburb do you stay in?
For all Perth wannabees - Where suburb are you heading for?

BTW-I think we're going to rent in Joondalup or nearby suburbs. We then hope to check out suburbs at weekends to suss things out.
So God knows where we'll end up, but it must be a goddamn better life than Glasgow, where ever we decide to settle.

Cheers and all the best to everyone who is making one of the most important decisions in their life.

Expect to hear in next 2 months from HC (when they finally get round to it) and then off to Perth immediately, house on market now! Have been looking at Duncraig, Padbury, Hillarys as preference as expensive but still affordable and yet close to city and near beach.. There are some suburbs which are hugely exp. and we arent travelling all that way to live in the same size house. Sister and husband arrive Sept 7th.
Email on [email protected] if you want to keep in touch.
Cheers
Nicky

Michael went last August to his cousins in Iluka (too dear for us though). He took the video camera. It looks absolutely fab. Weather (and it was winter there), housing, way of life, house sizes, work prospects, schools etc.
We also bought Billy Connolly's Tour of Australia video.
Gives a little insight to popular areas of Oz. Its worth getting if just for his humour! You'll pee yer pants.
If anyone wants to see it, don't hesitate to get in touch.
Or, better still, make a day/weekend of it and come and visit us.(Glasgow)
Michaels video of Perh is worth seeing too.

Hi guys -happy to see you all want to come to Perth. We've been here about 6 weeks and its fantastic. Rented a place fairly central (Leederville) until we get organised. It's becoming 'yuppified' but everybody's extremely friendly and its great for access to just about everything (Unfortunately when we buy it will have to be further out)

I notice most of you are going further North - we have visited places like Hilary's , Karrinyup etc but only on the weekend. The coast from Perth up is great but if you work in the CBD you may have 'traffic problems' (by Oz standards). Having said that what they call heavy traffic here is somewhat akin to Sunday morning shopping in Reading (Berks).

Anyway good luck all with your plans and trip

We arrived just under 5 weeks ago. Have been staying near to Bunbury which is about 2 hours south of Perth. Have just bought a house in Mandurah which is 1 hour south, journey time should be quicker for commuters once the freeway is completed. Haven't yet ventured north of Perth as we wanted to stay south to be closer to relatives, but we are loving it here and have no regrets so far!

I live in Joondalup CBD , Kinross is okay but you need to get near to train station otherwise 2 cars a must .Why not rent buy a block of land and then have some fun building lots of different homes to pick from and area is down to you this will stop you feeling home sick and keep you busy.Hope you have family and friends out here they will help get over first months and settle down.
