Perth Voted Dullsville yet again
No not me I love it not , great place to find out what arse end means.
Uh oh, social death. Perth declared Dullsville all over again. And this time by nothing less than international style magazine Wallpaper! The shame, the shame. That rustling sound you hear is the glitterati and the fashionistas packing their bags and preparing to flee to more stylish climes.
The main complaints are that Perth is isolated, sterile and a bit of a nanny state. Guilt, guilty, guilty. Look, let’s be honest: Perth is not London, New York or Sydney and never will be – not even if Richard Court returns in a blaze of glory and erects a whole chain of belltowers from Guildford to Fremantle. It doesn’t matter how many trips Sean Doran makes to Paris, Rio or Buenos Aires; Perth on Swan is not going to become the next big thing.
Perth is suburban. Australia is suburban and Perth is just more so. It’s physically very isolated, off the beaten track. It’s not big enough for Kylie to come here any more and our “celebrities are the network newsreaders. We don’t have any major attractions and even had to import Elle to remind the rest of the country that we exist.

How about some distilled advice for newcomers? Mine would be to brush up on your hobbies and seek out clubs and associations.

Does it really matter? Perth is the hub of an immense state full of interesting things to do and places to see – the great outdoors, breathtaking landscapes, endless white beaches, great adventures, Ningaloo Reef, the Kimberley, yadda yadda yadda.
The citizens of WA may sometimes feel a little culturally deprived but overall less than two million of us enjoy a lifestyle that billions of others can only dream about. When you live here you forget that the sun doesn’t shine every day in the rest of the world. The people who should be concerned about Wallpaper ’s opinion are those working in the tourism industry. They’ve got some work to do, preferably not involving Elle McPherson.

Yea the hot spots are great for those who can afford the vast amounts of time it takes to get to these wonderful one horse towns , keep your beach most bore of it .
Efforts to manufacture a vibrant city culture are doomed to failure. Encouraging people to move closer to the CBD hasn’t developed an urban outlook in suburban people – it’s brought the suburbs to the city. People who have migrated from quarter-acre blocks in dormitory suburbs don’t want a 24-hour party city. Heck, half of them are trying to shut it down as we speak.
Realistically it looks like there’s not much hope of turning Perth into the San Francisco of the south or the Paris end of the Great Eastern Highway.

Was Perth the last stop off for Barry White then!! When will that bloke "the voice" take the hint and keel over. Is that the best we've got to offer? Makes me look at 'ol Tom Jones in a different light.
